You work in Schleswig-Holstein and want to take Bildungsurlaub? Then you should know about the Weiterbildungsbonus. Here you’ll learn how you can save up to €1,500 on your Bildungsurlaub!
The Weiterbildungsbonus Schleswig-Holstein is a funding program that financially supports you in your professional development. The program covers up to 60% of the training costs, with a maximum of €5,000 per person and application. Your employer must contribute at least 40% and covers any amount exceeding €5,000.
Example: The training costs €2,000
- Funding (60%): €1,200
- Employer (40%): €800
Only training programs with a minimum duration of 16 hours are eligible for funding. Shorter courses cannot be subsidized. However, multiple training programs can be funded within one year as long as the requirements are met.
The training provider must be certified according to DIN ISO 9001 and/or AZA; for distance learning, certification by the ZFU is required.
You are eligible for the Weiterbildungsbonus in Schleswig-Holstein if you are permanently employed in Schleswig-Holstein and the training takes place in SH. Apprentices and self-employed individuals are not eligible.

Submit your application online
Submit your application online via the IB.SH portal at least 4 weeks before the start of your Bildungsurlaub. The following documents must be submitted:
- Signed application form.
- Detailed description of the training program including schedule, content, duration, and costs.
- Copy of your ID card, passport, or registration certificate.
- Proof of employment.
Wait for the approval notice
The Investment Bank Schleswig-Holstein (IB.SH) will carefully review your application and issue an approval notice after successful verification and approval. This notice confirms that your application meets the required criteria and that you are eligible for the requested support.
Register for Your
Training Program
After receiving the approval notice confirming that your application has been successfully reviewed and approved, you can officially register for the course. With this registration, you can begin your training.
