WHAT IS BILDUNGSURLAUB?

German workers can join the Bildungsurlaub program, a training leave that consist of 5 or 10 days during working days. The course is paid for by the worker, who however will continue to be paid and will not have any days deducted from holidays.

The bureaucratic process varies according to each Länder, but in general it has to be presented to the employer:
– the request for leave for training leave
– the certificate of enrollment in the chosen course/school
– the study programme.
